Case Study - Maastricht University Medical Center

Maastricht University Medical Center’s (MUMC) ambition is to improve the health of the region’s population at all levels. To achieve this aim, its focus is on rehabilitation and the maintenance and promotion of good health. The MUMC has 715 beds, and every year it processes approximately 27,500 patient admissions and 22,000 outpatient treatments with 7,200 employees.

The MUMC’s Facilities Unit (FU) has 340 employees and a budget of 36 million euros. It is responsible for providing the best possible support throughout the entire care process by supplying and managing premises, engineering, logistics, catering and security. Under the motto ‘great organisation, guaranteed’, the FU’s policy focuses on three pillars: transforming from a ‘doing’ to a ‘coordinating’ organisation, sharpening focus on the customer as a way to create a USP, and continuously improving processes and customer communication.
