Working in the technology industry here at Planon, we’re constantly trying to predict the future so we’re able to meet the changing needs of facility and real estate managers, and working on our most recent white paper ‘Next Generation Facilities Management Software’ was no exception.

As part of my research I found a fascinating video on TED from Nicholas Negroponte that I wanted to share with you. It looks at technology premonitions from the past 30 years and how accurate they were, as well as providing predictions for the next 30 years.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say our latest white paper predicts the next 30 years of facility management software, but it does provide insights in to key changes over the next 5-10 years and how you can prepare for them, including:

  1. Making real estate work harder and smarter
  2. Creating a mobile culture
  3. The alternative workplace
  4. Ensuring technology works for people (not the other way round)
  5. Keeping the lights on
  6. Protecting your workforce

If you’re interested in seeing what the future holds for you, then please download a copy of ‘Next Generation Facility Management Software’. And if you’ve some of your own predictions for what the future holds then please add them to the comments section below.
