Throughout history, the interaction of humans with technology has been pretty much one-sided. We turn our technologies on and off, operate and guide them in their tasks, and use our senses to monitor their operation.
However, in recent years the nature of this relationship has shifted. What seems to be emerging more and more is the “smart environment,” a long-predicted phenomenon in which a place – such as a workplace - can respond without our explicit intervention.
