We are looking for a Lead Architect Solutions ensures the architectural integrity and conceptual alignment of Planon solution implementations, safeguarding consistency with the Planon Application Framework (PAF) and driving continuous improvement across solution teams.

You successfully fulfil your role by:

  • Standards‑Driven & Pragmatic – Applies architectural principles while making practical trade‑offs that support business goals, constructively challenging assumptions to drive innovation within architectural boundaries.
  • Ownership & Accountability – Owns architectural decisions, communicates risks and trade‑offs transparently and early, escalates when needed, and consistently follows through.
  • Impactful Mentor - Leads by example, clearly explains complex ideas to both technical and non‑technical audiences, mentoring others in architectural thinking.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset – Treats architecture and PAF as evolving assets, refining them based on feedback and changing needs.
  • Collaborative & Inclusive – Encourages open communication, transparency, and cross‑team alignment without gatekeeping or silos.
  • Architectural Alignment – Ensures solution designs and implementations adhere to PAF standards, principles, and reference models, engages early to prevent downstream risks, and provides timely risk feedback to the leadership team.
  • Solution Advocacy – Promote architectural principles during solution discussions, balancing rigor with business needs and customer value.
  • Framework Evolution – Identify gaps and improvement opportunities within the PAF; maintain the architecture backlog and provide updates to platform owners and management.
  • Cross‑Team Collaboration – Maintain architecture blueprints, reference implementations, guidelines, and other materials that enable adoption, a shared understanding and architectural alignment across solution and platform teams.
  • Mentorship & Enablement – Coach developers, designers, and associate architects in best practices, design patterns, conceptual thinking, and documentation.

Our ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

  • Create, review and validate solution designs for architectural soundness and framework alignment, both within and cross-teams to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment.
  • Document solution architecture blueprints and guidelines to facilitate technical decisions and support “first‑time‑right” implementations.
  • Mentor technical leads and senior developers in scalable, maintainable design practices.
  • Detect architectural bottlenecks, provide technical assistance on customer issues and create improvement scenarios.
  • Initiate and execute proof of concepts based on existing PAF capabilities.
  • Architectural quality of delivered solution increments (scalability, maintainability, extensibility), based on first time right and reduced rework.
  • Correct and consistent use of PAF framework concepts in Solutions.
  • Reduction of solution-specific customizations due to better alignment to PAF capabilities.
  • Number and quality of identified framework improvements adopted by PAF teams.
  • Cross-team alignment and feedback satisfaction from Solutions Directors and PAF directors.
  • Full‑stack oriented, able to guide and support both front‑end and back‑end design and implementation concerns.
  • Experience designing and reviewing complex software systems built with Java Enterprise and Angular/TypeScript.
  • Experience creating and maintaining software architecture diagrams, preferably using the C4 model and UML.

*Note that it is important for us to live within an hour commute of our office for this role.

These are the steps of our onboarding process:

  1. You will receive a welcome letter with information about your first working day.
  2. Your manager will welcome you on your first day and give you a tour of the office.
  3. You will collect your laptop and other assets from IT and visit HR to finalise the administrative onboarding.
  4. You follow the three-day online induction course by the Planon Academy.
  5. After your probation period, your manager discusses the continuation of the employment contract with you.
