Planon continues commitment to supporting the Facilities Management profession and its future leaders
March 15, 2021 – Planon is pleased to announce its continued collaboration with Ferris State University, a leader in facilities management education, on a facility management technology class for the Bachelor of Science in Facility Management program.
The collaborative course introduces students to the concept of an IWMS and how this platform can contribute to effective and efficient management of facilities. Planon consultants contributed expertise and content to support six lectures on the topic of IWMS technology. Over the series of lectures, the class learned the business benefits of an integrated platform and experienced hands-on learning of how to navigate and use core aspects of an IWMS. Topics included reactive and preventative maintenance as well as space and move management.
“Planon is a simple and powerful system to use,” said Shyann E LaFay, a student in Ferris’ Architecture and Facility Management Department. “Planon provides an ease to the processes that facility managers must follow and using the system is crucial to understanding the profession.”
“Planon’s powerful IWMS solution can improve communication across different departments, and thus, ensuring access to high-quality shared data, which has always been an important piece of the decision-making puzzle for facility managers,” said Dr. Tanzia Sharmin, an associate professor in Ferris’ Architecture and Facility Management Department. “The user-friendly, structured user interface of Planon modules was highly appreciated and very well received by my students.”
“Having practical, hands on experience with the technologies in the industry is a crucial part of an FM education,” said David Karpook, Vice President of North American Operations at Planon. “Planon is thrilled to continue our collaboration with Ferris State University and to continue to actively support future leaders of Facilities Management in their education.”
