Until his retirement in 2024, Fred oversaw the acquisitions as the head of Planon’s legal functions. With over 35 years of legal, entrepreneurial, and management experience, Fred brought valuable expertise to Planon, drawing on his background as founding partner of BVVG law firm. Fred's proficiency lies in navigating intricate cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equities, restructuring, and financing projects. He holds a law degree from the University of Leiden and the University of Amsterdam.

Until his retirement in 2024, Fred Guelen, formerly Chief Acquisition Officer at Planon, brought a wealth of experience to the team, with over 35 years of legal, entrepreneurial, and management experience. His role encompassed managing Planon's legal function and leading all acquisitions for the company. Before joining Planon, Fred was one of the founding partners of Buren van Velzen Guelen (BVVG), an international law firm. With his deep understanding and expertise in complex, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructuring, and financing projects, Fred has successfully navigated numerous high-stake transactions. He holds degrees in law from the University of Leiden and the University of Amsterdam, which have laid a strong foundation for his career.

From 1998 to 2012, Fred served as the owner of Buren N.V., where he played a pivotal role as a corporate counsel, advising clients on intricate legal matters. His proficiency in managing complex mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, reorganisations, and financing has garnered him a stellar reputation. Fred has overseen a multitude of national and international financing and restructuring transactions, as well as medium-sized acquisitions and private equity investments.

As one of the founding partners of Buren, Fred is a member of the Dutch Bar Association and has played a significant role in its growth and success. From 2012 until 2024, he held executive roles at Planon, including Chief Acquisition Officer and Chairman of the North America Board, where his strategic vision and expertise contributed to the company's overall strategy and expansion. Fred will remain active as a strategic advisor to the board.

Fred possesses a diverse skill set that includes change management, corporate law, business strategy, and extensive expertise in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and international tax. His multifaceted background and leadership made him a valuable asset to Planon's executive team. With his profound knowledge and experience, Fred drove Planon's success in the dynamic world of facility management and real estate software solutions.

Fred’s hobbies are curling and ice hockey. In addition, he finds joy in exploring the diverse landscapes and cultures of South America.
