Intensive multi-year collaboration results in sustainable digitalization in the public sector

November 13, 2025 – Rijksvastgoedbedrijf (RVB), the real estate organization of the Dutch national government, has officially gone live with Planon Asset & Maintenance Management (AMM). With this step, RVB is bringing all of its maintenance processes together in a single integrated platform. More than 800 internal employees and 800 external suppliers will now work with Planon – an important milestone in a large-scale digitalization program that began in 2021.

From six systems to one integrated solution

Several years ago, RVB issued a tender aimed at replacing six maintenance systems with one future-proof solution. In response, Planon accelerated the development of the new version of its Asset & Maintenance Management solution and went on to win the tender.

The implementation, led by a specialized team of Planon consultants, was exceptionally complex: the system continued to be developed throughout the project based on direct feedback from RVB. “For Planon, this was a unique co-creation project together with our development team,” one of the project leads explained.

Over the course of the project, more than 410,000 assets and 300,000 maintenance activities were loaded into the system. In addition, 60 training sessions were provided for RVB’s end users.

Collaboration and the road ahead

The go-live marks the start of an intensive two-week hypercare period, followed by six weeks of lighter support. From January 1, 2026, the Planon Managed Services team will join Planon’s Support Team in ensuring the RVB gains maximum value from its new platform.

“This go-live is a milestone for both Planon and Rijksvastgoedbedrijf,” says Luciën Kamps, General Manager, Planon EMEA West. “This project demonstrates how close collaboration, technical innovation and perseverance can deliver sustainable digitalization in the public sector.”
