16 November 2020 – Schneider Electric and Planon today announced they will further join forces to create the next generation of OT/IT solutions across the building life cycle. The combination of two global market leaders will unite smart building operating technology – as offered by Schneider Electric – with the IT building services world – as offered by Planon. The combination creates an ideal partnership to guide organisations in their digital transformation of the building lifecycle, delivering clear synergy and value.

Planon and Schneider Electric will further intensify their partnership, established in March 2019, with Schneider Electric now acquiring a minority shareholder position in Planon. This financial and professional backing will enable Planon to accelerate the further deployment of its suite of software solutions, in which Planon will leverage the synergies with the Schneider Electric offerings around smart buildings and energy technology while keeping in place its ‘open’ platform strategy towards the property technology market in general.

By further combining their experience and strengths Planon and Schneider Electric believe they can jointly lead the global smart building market. In their joint market approach both parties aim to provide the market with the tools to implement data driven strategic portfolio decisions, reduce building operating costs, enhance the value of assets throughout their life cycle, enable building sustainability transformation and improve workplace experiences for building occupants.

Pierre Guelen, Planon’s founder and CEO commented: “We are very excited about this cooperation with Schneider Electric, which will bring tremendous benefits to our customers and partners, as well as to our company. Schneider Electric brings building operating technology as well as alternative energy sourcing and management technology to our solution portfolio with a global reach and unparalleled customer and partner relationships. We share a common vision on the digital transformation of the entire building lifecycle and its contribution to creating healthy, sustainable, efficient data-driven buildings and provide building users with a personalised workplace experience. Schneider Electric’s support will accelerate the impact of our solutions on a global scale.”

Commenting on the transaction, Philippe Delorme, Executive Vice-President of Energy Management and a member of the Executive Committee at Schneider Electric, said: “We are delighted to join forces with Planon, enhancing our digital expertise and offers available to customers across all our buildings and data centres markets striving for lifecycle and operational efficiency. With an estimated 90% of our time spent indoors, buildings of the future need to be sustainable, hyper-efficient, resilient, and people focused. The COVID-19 pandemic has added a new dimension to this shift: buildings must support business resilience. Schneider Electric is committed to playing a central role in the creation of the sustainable and resilient buildings of the future.”
